Buttercup Film Productions

Buttercup Film Productions is a Vancouver BC CANADA-based film production company, managed by passionate filmmakers focused on screenplay writing, producing and directing thought provoking stories, within the Drama, Thriller, Documentary and Comedy genres. As well, with having a life-long passion for the Old West and determined to showcase the authenticity of the 19th century. To date, our team has written, produced and directed several films that have been well received in the film festival circuit, cementing Buttercup Film Productions in the independent film space.

Our Story

In 2019 the journey as independent filmmakers began.

Embarking on the path to becoming an independent filmmaker is a venture marked by passion, perseverance, and creativity. For Christa, writer, producer, director of Buttercup Film Productions, Bert of NVW Productions and Melanie of La Tayr Productions, co-producers respectively, this journey is a testament to their unwavering dedication to the craft of film-making and storytelling.

However, becoming a professional filmmaker is often fraught with challenges, Christa, Bert and Melanie's experiences were no exception. They began their careers by working on various union productions in the early 1990's, this provided them with opportunities to refine their skills and learn the intricacies of film production. Despite facing numerous obstacles, their passion for storytelling propelled them forward, and their work began to garner attention and recognition.

Venturing into independent filmmaking is a bold step, it takes patience and a keen eye for planning, but driven by their desire to create films that resonate deeply with audiences and reflect their unique perspective, this allows them to explore diverse genres and themes. With their commitment to producing high-quality, thought-provoking content this dedication has earned them the title of filmmakers.
